QUEENSBURY, New York (March 30, 2026) — SUNY Adirondack’s Gaming Club presents a family-friendly movie night featuring “The Minecraft Movie” at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in Scoville Learning Center, Room 206.

“We’re excited to bring people together,” said Michele Sprague, assistant director of Financial Aid at SUNY Adirondack and advisor to the Gaming Club. “Gaming is a powerful way to build community, and hosting a public screening gives us a chance to connect with students and neighbors alike, share something fun and showcase the welcoming, inclusive spirit of our campus.”

“The Minecraft Movie” is a 2025 fantasy adventure comedy film based on the hit 2011 video game “Minecraft.” The movie was directed by Jared Hess and stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge. The story follows four misfits who are pulled through a portal into a cubic world and have to embark on a quest back to the real world with the help of crafter Steve.

This event is open to the public. Admission is $5 per person; and free for SUNY Adirondack students and children younger than 12. Concessions are available for purchase (cash only).

The Gaming Club will also host a “Super Smash Brothers” tournament April 4 as part of Adirondack Retro Nerdfest. The fourth annual event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 4, in SUNY Adirondack’s Northwest Bay Conference Center in Adirondack Hall. The 1-vs.-1 double-elimination tournament has a $5 entry fee for non-students.

The Gaming Club is an inclusive club dedicated to everything gaming. The club hosts weekly events, streaming events, tournaments and group gaming, and performs acts of community service.
