QUEENSBURY, New York (Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021) — The popular CDPHP Cycle! bike share program unveiled in Warren County in late spring expanded to SUNY Adirondack’s campus, where the popular green and purple bikes are now available to students.
“As an avid bicyclist myself, I’m thrilled that Cycle! is offered to SUNY Adirondack students,” said Kristine D. Duffy, Ed.D., president of SUNY Adirondack. “The program gives students a practical, environmentally friendly mode of transportation and, as important, a great way to stay fit, relieve stress and enjoy the beauty of this region.”
As part of Cycle!, four bicycles are available on SUNY Adirondack’s Queensbury campus, offered at a student rate. At half-off its standard price, students can pay $2.50 an hour, $7.50 a month or $42.50 a year to use Cycle! bikes. Helmets are available to borrow through Residence Life.
Students can go online to cdta.org or download the CDTA app, create an account and then use the bikes, 24 of which are available at hubs in front of City Hall and Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls; in the Warren County Bikeway parking lot near Sprinkles Ice Cream Shoppe in Queensbury; and on Beach Road in Lake George.
The program also supports SUNY Adirondack’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
“SUNY Adirondack is committed to maintaining our region’s natural beauty and encouraging a healthy lifestyle,” said Scott Royael, SUNY Adirondack Academic success coach and Sustainability coordinator. “Access to CDPHP bicycles on campus gives students a carbon-free form of transportation, connecting them with nature and our surrounding community — on top of proven physical and mental health benefits!”
Cycle! is available at SUNY Adirondack and other hubs, weather permitting, April through November. Bikes can be locked to any fixed object, offering users greater flexibility. The downloadable app shows users where bikes can be found.
In May, CDTA, CDPHP and Greater Glens Falls Transit (GGFT) announced the CDPHP Cycle! expansion in Warren County, the latest for the 5-year-old program. CDPHP Cycle! is owned and operated by the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in Albany.
