Biography

Tara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor who, in addition to working at the college, runs her own private practice which provides individual and family therapy. Tara has worked as a therapist at local nonprofits providing therapy in K-12 schools and in a traditional office setting. She has experience providing individual, family and career counseling; and has worked with people of varying ages, from all walks of life and with a wide range of diagnoses. Tara has a special passion for helping people heal from trauma, and feels blessed to be a trusted part of so many peoples' journey toward wellness. She feels the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the counseling process and values the opportunity to partner with those she’s counseling. Tara is passionate about normalizing mental health treatment and improving accessibility to mental health care for all. 

Education

Associate in Arts in 2011 and Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Substance Abuse Services in 2012 from SUNY Adirondack; Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from Empire State College, 2014; a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2017 and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mental Health Counseling in 2018 from the University at Buffalo

Hobbies and interests

In her free time, Tara enjoys being in nature, reading, traveling and, most of all, spending time with her family. Tara is also proud to be on the Board of Directors for WAIT House, a local youth homeless shelter.
