Amy Macaluso

Biography

Amy Macaluso has taught science and biology since she was an undergraduate at The College of Saint Rose, where she was a natural science tutor and science summer camp instructor. In graduate school at Temple University in Philadelphia, she instructed biology, marine biology, freshwater biology and ecology laboratory classes for undergraduate science majors. As a graduate research assistant she worked on large collaborative grants investigating the effects of UV radiation on freshwater foodwebs. Her work has been published in Limnology and Oceanography, Applied and Environmental Microbiology and Aquatic Microbial Ecology. She started teaching part time for SUNY Adirondack in Spring 2017. In the 2021-2022 academic year she won the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching and became a full-time faculty member in Fall 2022.

Hobbies and interests

Amy Macaluso grew up locally and returned to the area after completing her graduate work. She loves traveling with her family, especially to the ocean, visiting beaches up and down the eastern coastline. She loves movies of all types and enjoying nights out at the theater.
