QUEENSBURY, New York (Sept. 24, 2024) — SUNY Adirondack's Visual Arts Gallery features "Vantage Points: Paintings by Ian Burcroff and Peter Russom" through Nov. 7.
The exhibition includes abstracted paintings and drawings by Burcroff, an art professor at Clinton Community College, and Russom, a retired SUNY Plattsburgh professor.
"Ian and Peter challenge our perspectives through their patterned forms, bold colors and rich textures," said Rebecca Pelchar, assistant professor of Art History, director of the college’s Visual Arts Gallery and chair of the Arts, Media and Culture division. "The color found throughout the paintings dominates the gallery space, creating a stimulating visual experience."
Burcroff earned a master’s degree in painting from University of Alaska, Fairbanks. In the years since, he has served as coordinator of Fine Arts and assistant professor of Art at Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh.
His paintings have been exhibited throughout North America, including at Studio Place Arts in Barre, Vermont, SEABA Gallery in Burlington, Vermont, The Annex Gallery in Fairbanks, Alaska, Kirkland Art Center in Clinton and The Strand Center for the Arts in Plattsburgh.

He has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Winkel Faculty Development Award at SUNY Plattsburgh, the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching and Faculty Merit Award in Research at St. John’s University, among others.
His works have been exhibited throughout the United States, including at The Kingston Gallery in Boston, Durham Arts Council Gallery in Durham, North Carolina, Latham Gallery at LARAC and Adams State University in Colorado, to name a few.
