SUNY Adirondack will mark Transgender Day of Remembrance with a candlelight vigil at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 in Miller Auditorium in Dearlove Hall.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence that year.

In 2018, human rights advocates tracked at least 26 deaths of transgender or gender non-conforming people in the United States due to fatal violence, the majority of whom were Black transgender women.

The program, which is free and open to the public, aligns with the college’s mission of fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive learning environment and campus community.
