QUEENSBURY, New York (Feb. 2, 2026) — SUNY Reconnect seems too good to be true — Free tuition in a high-demand field, with no strings attached? Really? — so SUNY Adirondack is offering a series of virtual information sessions to explain the program and answer questions.
“We want those interested in earning a degree to know SUNY Reconnect is a great option to get a high-quality education for free,” said Sarah Murphy, SUNY Adirondack’s adult learner coordinator. “A lot of individuals who call or stop by my office ask ‘What’s the catch?’ and there isn’t one.”
SUNY Reconnect is a state-funded program that covers the costs of tuition, required fees and supplies, and books after other forms of tuition assistance are applied. To be eligible for free tuition in a high-demand field at a SUNY community college, prospective students must:
- Be a New York state resident;
- Be between the ages of 25 and 55;
- Not have a college degree; and
- Enroll in an eligible degree program
SUNY Adirondack’s eligible degree programs include Computer Science; Criminal Justice: Substance Abuse Services; Cybersecurity and Networking; Engineering Science; Environmental Science; Liberal Arts and Sciences: Health Sciences; Mechatronics; and Nursing. More are anticipated to be added before the start of the Fall 2026 semester.

- 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4;
- noon Saturday, Feb. 21;
- 5 p.m. Monday, March 9;
