SUNY Adirondack Nursing Alumni offer program for diabetic care professionals
The SUNY Adirondack Nursing Alumni Speakers Series will feature the program What Nurses Need to Know: Recent Advances in the Treatment and Management of the Diabetic Patient at 5 p.m. April 5 in the J. Buckley Bryan Jr. Regional Higher Education Center, Room 128 on the Queensbury campus.
The event will provide up-to-date information regarding care of patients with diabetes, including categories of drugs on the market, technologies for diabetics and case management, including diet, hospital discharge and specialty referral.
Presenters include Dr. Christine Alexander-Decker, FACE from the Center of Endocrinology and Diabetes of Saratoga Hospital; Abby Bayer, BS, RN and CDE; and Kat Christensen, BS and RN. Both Bayer and Christensen are graduates of SUNY Adirondack’s nursing program.
Nurses in a variety of fields and specialties work with patients with diabetes. But outside of working in endocrinology, nurses many not know the most recent information about the latest medicines, technology and nutrition to manage the disease.
Free 1.5 hours of CEU credit will be offered to all attendees. The American Nurses Association of Massachusetts is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
The program is free and open to the public. The information provided will be geared toward nurses and nursing students.
