Students offer romantic comedy at culmination of theater course
SUNY Adirondack hosts fantasy novelist
Author Philip Chase featured in college's Writers Project series

QUEENSBURY, New York (March 31, 2025) — Fantasy novelist Philip Chase will speak at 12:40 p.m. Monday, April 7, in SUNY Adirondack’s Visual Arts Gallery as part of the college’s Spring 2025 Writers Project series.
Chase, a Vermont native, is author of the fantasy series “Edan Trilogy.” As part of the thriving fantasy community on YouTube, he runs a channel ("Philip Chase" or "PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy") dedicated to exploring the fantasy genre.
A medievalist with a Ph.D. in English literature, Chase has taught courses on writing, medieval literature and fantasy literature. His special interests include Old English, Old Norse, Middle English, 19th-century medievalism, comparative mythology and fantasy. Other inspirations include time spent in Germany, the United Kingdom, Nepal, and the Northeast and Northwest of the United States.
In addition to Old English and Old Norse, influences that appear in his "Edan Trilogy” include knowledge of Welsh and time spent living in South Asia, where he learned Nepali. His influences include J.R.R. Tolkien. He lives in New Jersey with his family.
The series continues with the following events, each held at 12:40 p.m. in the Visual Arts Gallery:
- Monday, April 28: Author and journalist Megan Mayhew-Bergman;
- Wednesday, April 30: SUNY Adirondack Creative Writing majors will read from their works
