SUNY Adirondack hosts blood drive
Appointments available for American Red Cross event
QUEENSBURY, New York (Nov. 29, 2021) — SUNY Adirondack is proud to host a Student Senate-sponsored American Red Cross Blood Drive at the college’s Bay Road campus. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, the public is invited to participate in the Blood Drive in the lobby of the Student Center.
“SUNY Adirondack students know the importance of community and of giving back,” said Taylor Testa, director of Student Engagement and Diversity. “Regular blood drives on campus are an incredible display of their engaging the community and contributing to the greater good.”
According to the American Red Cross:
- 4.5 million lives are saved by blood transfusions every year;
- Someone in the United States needs blood or platelets every 2 seconds;
- A single blood donation can save up to three lives;
- 60 percent of blood donations come from people 40 years or older;
- 3 percent of age-eligible people donate blood each year
