Manufacturing and STEAM Day event planned for region's ninth- and 10th-graders

(QUEENSBURY, New York — Oct. 11, 2022) — SUNY Adirondack will host a Manufacturing and STEAM Day event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21,  in partnership with Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES. Manufacturing Day is a nationwide celebration of modern manufacturing that aims to inspire future manufacturers.

Up to 125 ninth- and 10th-grade students from across the region, including students in the Pathways to Technology (PTECH) program that prepares high school students for high-skills jobs of the future in technology, manufacturing, health care and finance, will participate in an interactive tabling event with hands-on activities and demonstrations by area Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) and manufacturing businesses, PTECH and SUNY Adirondack programs. 

Students will also have an opportunity to tour one or more regional businesses, giving them a chance to learn about manufacturing careers and related educational pathways.

The event is a result of the work of the STEAM Roundtable, a group of representatives from local STEAM businesses, various SUNY Adirondack faculty and staff members, and WSWHE BOCES. Participating companies include Adirondack Studios, Espey Mfg. & Electronics Corp., Finch Paper, The Fort Miller Group, GlobalFoundries, Irving Tissue, Kirsh Helmets and RASP.
