Noted Latino speaker Saul Flores to speak at SUNY ADK

QUEENSBURY, New York (Oct. 3, 2023) — SUNY Adirondack is proud to announce "The Walk of the Immigrants," a special event honoring Hispanic Heritage Month featuring renowned speaker Saul Flores, at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. 

The event, which is open to the public, will be held in Northwest Bay Conference Center, offering students, faculty, staff and the wider community an enriching experience to celebrate Hispanic communities' cultural diversity and contributions.

"Saul Flores' story embodies the resilience and determination rooted in the diverse Hispanic communities, and having him on campus is a perfect way to respect, acknowledge and celebrate some of the rich contributions made by Hispanic communities," said Cornelius Gilbert, chief diversity officer at SUNY Adirondack.

Saul Flores is a philanthropist, photojournalist and nationally renowned speaker whose compelling journey has touched people's hearts at more than 250 universities, organizations and companies. His social impact projects focus on giving back to his mother’s hometown of Atencingo, Mexico, to ensure the pursuit of education stays viable. Most notably, Flores walked 5,328 miles through 10 countries and nine border crossings to document how grueling and dangerous the journey of immigrants to the United States can be and to raise money for an elementary school in Atencingo, Mexico.
