QUEENSBURY, New York (Oct. 11, 2021) — SUNY Adirondack presents “Landscape and Memory,” the latest in the college’s Lecture Series, at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Katherine Patterson, adjunct professor of Drawing and 2D Design, will present her original drawings, paintings and photographs, which explore the landscape and weather of the Adirondacks as a metaphor for the continual shift of perception and memory.

The presentation will be held in Miller Auditorium, Dearlove Hall, on the Queensbury campus.

Patterson earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Cooper Union and a Master of Fine Arts degree from New England College. She lives and works in Glens Falls, and enjoys discovering the rich natural and cultural offerings of the region.

Her work is on view at Albany International Airport Gallery, and has been shown at Zabriskie Gallery and Phoenix Gallery in Manhattan, Momenta Gallery and Brooklyn Artist's Gym in Brooklyn, as well as regionally at Saratoga Arts Center, LARAC, Cooperstown Art Association and Chautauqua Institute, among others. She will attend an Artist's Residency at MassMOCA in the spring.

The presentation is part of SUNY Adirondack’s College Lecture Series sponsored by the college’s Professional Development Committee. The public is invited and admission is free. The talk will last about an hour with time for questions.

The College Lecture Series offers talks by SUNY Adirondack faculty and staff on a variety of topics and contemporary issues. Upcoming presentations include: "What Are Concepts For? Part 2" by Robert Faivre, professor of English, at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15; and a talk with Diane Bargiel, a retired associate professor of Music, at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8.
