Learning opportunities

Through SUNY Transformation funding, the college will offer business courses free for qualifying students, including:

  • QuickBooks Microcomputer Applications, a three-credit online course, is designed to prepare students for the QuickBooks certification exam offered by Intuit. The course runs May 19 to June 27.
  • Advanced Bookkeeping Applications is a three-credit online course offered July 7 to Aug. 15. The course teaches six key subjects of bookkeeping and prepares students for the National Certification Bookkeeper (NCB) certification exam. 

The classes include academic and career support through specialized advisors.

Cannabis: A Journey through history, society and policy will be offered May 19 to June 27 as part of C4 Cannabis Consortium, a joint partnership among SUNY Adirondack, SUNY Columbia-Greene, SUNY Fulton-Montgomery and SUNY Schenectady to create cannabis-based workforce development, funded by a $1 million grant from the state of New York.

 

This course meets SUNY Gen Ed Social Science requirements.

Basic Algebra Refresher course meets online from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, May 5 to 15.

This course is designed for students who placed into MAT 090 (Pre-Algebra) but would like a chance to place into MAT 097 (Introductory Algebra) or MAT 099/109 (Survey of Mathematics). All the skills essential for success in MAT 097 are covered and all course materials will be provided. The course includes 10 hours of live, online instruction via Zoom, as well as four or more hours of self-directed practice. On the final day of class, students will retake the placement test with staff from the Student Success Center.

This class runs during Summer Session II (July 7-Aug. 15) at the Queensbury campus. The program provides support and resources to help students succeed in their math courses and prepare for the Fall semester. 

Students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must be registered with or have the intention to register with the Accessibility Services Office before start of Summer Session II.
  • Students must have placed/tested into MAT 099 and/or MAT 109.
  • Students must be able to attend classes Tuesday through Thursday, July 7 to Aug. 15.
  • Students must be able to arrange their own transportation.
