Info for graduates
The Registrar's Office will confirm you meet the requirements for graduation once final grades are posted at the end of the semester. In the meantime, students planning to graduate should:
- Log in to Self-Service Banner to verify your mailing address.
- Students' legal names will be on their diplomas. If you have designated a chosen name, this will be used in the commencement program; otherwise, your legal name will be used.
- If you want to change your address or name, you can do so by filing a Change of Address Form, Name Change Authorization Form or Chosen First Name Request Form.
Is there a rehearsal for graduation?
No. When you report to Heritage Hall at Cool Insuring Arena, you will be given instructions as to how to line up for the procession.
What should I do the day of graduation?
Please arrive before 10:15 a.m. Greeters at the main entrance will guide you to Heritage Hall, where you check in.
Where do I get a cap and gown for graduation?
Beginning in mid-March, you can place an order for a cap and gown. (Once the form is activated, you will find it here.)
Can I decorate my cap?
Absolutely! We encourage you to express your individuality and creativity.
Where is Cool Insuring Arena?
Cool Insuring Arena, commonly referred to as "CIA" or "The Civic Center," is located at 1 Civic Center Plaza in downtown Glens Falls. The building, which for decades was named the Civic Center, is on Route 9, just south of the roundabout and north of the bridge over the Hudson River into South Glens Falls and Saratoga County.
Where should guests park?
Parking at CIA is limited. Graduates can be dropped off at the main entrance to the building. Family and friends can park on city streets, surrounding parking areas or the nearby St. Mary's Church parking lot.
Is CIA accessible?
There is accessible seating in Cool Insuring Arena, to which our greeters can assist guests. However, CIA does not offer wheelchairs or walkers for guests.
How many guests can I bring? Do they need tickets?
There is no limit to the number of guests you can bring to Commencement. We encourage you to invite your family and close friends to celebrate with you. Tickets are not necessary.
