Culinary and Baking Arts, AOS

The AOS in Culinary and Baking Arts is designed to prepare students for direct employment in the industry.  This degree complements our current Culinary Arts AAS and Commercial Cooking certificate, and provides focused in-depth instruction and practice in the fundamentals of culinary and baking arts. The AOS program will be technically oriented and allows students comprehensive hands-on experience to run a fully functioning restaurant which is open to the public. Students will have in-depth focus and skill development in the field of culinary arts. Through a combination of lecture and laboratory activity, students will be able to demonstrate: 

  • competency in cooking fundamentals and techniques
  • competency in baking, pastry, dessert preparation and procedures
  • costing and purchasing needed for food and beverage management
  • writing of menus and restaurant recipes 
  • ability to employ Serv Safe sanitation procedures

Take a love of home baking and cooking to another level with a practical degree designed for fast-tracking a career in the restaurant or hospitality industry. Students receive immersive, hand-on culinary instruction from faculty with extensive front and back of the house culinary experience. Future chefs can learn all aspects of the food industry by studying entirely at the college’s new downtown Glens Falls culinary facility, complete with a fine-dining restaurant.
