Programmer Analyst

The Programmer/Analyst will design, analyze, code, implement and document applications that support and enhance Banner, SUNY Adirondack’s higher education system.

Major Responsibilities

Work with campus departments to define the problem, enhancement, maintenance or upgrade required by, or associated with, Banner. Design, develop, test, and implement solutions using available applications. Consult with IT members, SICAS and ITEC with the goal of an expedient, robust solution. Test systems and document. Train users and team members as appropriate.

  • Check for adaptability of similar existing solutions.
  • Analyze costs vs. effectiveness of the possible methods to implement the design concepts.
  • Write code and perform testing.
  • Create supporting operating system scripts, reports, automated scheduling, and connections.
  • Consult team members, SICAS/ITEC, and vendors.
  • Works with end users to develop a plan/specification based on needs, goals, and objectives.
  • Consult with appropriate parties regarding requirements and limitations.
  • Review pros and cons of potential designs.
  • Provide IT support through responding to sysaid tickets; troubleshooting, researching, and dispatching where appropriate.
  • Support end user testing through patch management, assisting in staging test data/environment.
  • Support proper use and future maintenance of systems by ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President.

Required Skills

Strong technical sense, investigative mentality and good communication skills. Must have experience with Linux O/S, programming OOP languages, a relational database (Oracle preferred) and SQL.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.

Salary Range:  $54,000 – $65,000
