Longtime FIT career counselor to help SUNY ADK students explore career paths

QUEENSBURY, New York (March 5, 2024) — SUNY Adirondack is proud to announce the hiring of Pam Zuckerman as coordinator of Career Advising Connections, a position funded by SUNY Transformation Grant funds.

Zuckerman will help students explore career paths, set career goals, engage in networking opportunities, secure internships and prepare for the workforce.

“Participating in career-readiness activities equips students with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive academically and professionally, setting them up for success in their future careers,” said Jenny Postlethwaite, director of College Access and Student Success at SUNY Adirondack.

Zuckerman brings more than 37 years of experience in a similar role at Fashion Institute of Technology, where she served as associate professor and career and intern counselor.

“Being an advisor, you can do one thing that changes the course of a student’s life,” Zuckerman said. “You can be an inspiration as a mentor.”

Zuckerman is a past Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service winner. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Pennsylvania with a concentration from The Wharton School and master’s degrees in Psychology and Education from Columbia University.

At SUNY Adirondack, she will offer career and internship advising; develop and host workshops in resume building and interviewing, and career planning and preparedness; host job fairs; and collaborate with faculty and staff to help students align their education with their career goals.

“There are so many ways to impact students’ lives,” Zuckerman marveled.
