"I came to SUNY Adirondack as a transfer student. I was not very involved at my previous school, and Ipromised myself that I was going to make an effort to come out of my shell and get more involved whenI started here. I decided to go to the Club Drive at the start of my first semester, and I was really just looking for someone I could get along with. I met this girl Marissa who encouraged me to get involved with the College Activity Board and I ended up running for Vice President. Becoming Vice President also landed me a seat on the Student Senate. From there, I earned a spot in the Faculty Student Association and now I don’t think there is much that I am not involved in!

I work here in the Student Activities office answering questions, selling movie tickets and pointing students in the right direction when they need help. I have also been a resident assistant in the residence hall for the past two semesters, which has been both challenging and rewarding at the same time. In onesense, I am amongst my peers, but at the same time, I have to set a good example and take charge.

I never saw myself as a leader before, but everything that I have taken on has given me the confidence I needed and put me in these leadership roles that I never knew I was capable of.

I am in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program here. My marketing professor, Kelli Hatin is awesome. She is actually in charge of the Disney internship program and encouraged me to do it. I applied just to see if it was even possible for me to get in, and when I did, I couldn’t pass it up. I worked in the front office and as a bell service dispatcher at the Yacht Club Resort and Beach Club Resort in Walt Disney World.

I plan to finish my Associate degree in the fall of 2016. I haven’t decided which school I will transfer to for my Bachelor’s degree just yet, but I do know that ideally, I would like to be an event planner."
