Gainful Employment

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) requires institutions that participate in student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (the HEA), to report certain information about Title IV-eligible educational programs that lead to "Gainful Employment" in a recognized occupation (GE programs).  The regulations also require the school to report certain information about students who enrolled in these programs.  For more information seehttps://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2011/06/13/2011-13905/program-integrity-gainful-employment-debt-measures."  

The following list of programs fall under Gainful Employment:

  • Adventure Sports Certificate
  • Commercial Cooking Certificate
  • Early Childhood Studies Certificate
  • Entrepreneurship and Business Management Certificate
  • Information Technology Certificate
  • Media Arts Certificate
  • Radio Broadcasting Certificate
  • Teaching Assistant Certificate
  •  

In addition, the following programs have been deactivated, but fell under Gainful Employment criteria and have disclosure information provided:

  • Desktop Support Certificate (retitled and currently active as Information Technology)
  • Drafting Certificate
