Daniel D. Dennett MS, ATC is a native of Queensbury, NY and has been an NATA certified athletic trainer since 1990.  Coach “D” will be entering his 7th year at SUNY Adirondack as the Associate Professor for Health and Physical Education in addition to overseeing the Athletic Training program. 

While pursuing a career in Education and Sports Medicine Dan chose to begin his college career at Herkimer County CC where he received an AS degree.  He then completed a Bachelors Degree from Old Dominion University in Physical Education.  After completing a Masters Degree in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, AL. Dan was employed as a Physical Education Teacher/Athletic Trainer in Stafford, Virginia.  While in Stafford County for 12 years he established a state of the art athletic training program for three (AAA) high schools.  After completing a second Masters Degree through the George Mason Secondary School Educational Leadership Program he served as Assistant Athletic Director and 2 years as an Assistant Principal. Dan has been the Head Athletic Trainer for the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series (2001), NYSPHSAA State Championships for M. Basketball, W. Softball, M/W Volleyball & M/W X-Country (2000-2013). Other experience includes Head Athletic Trainer at SUNY Cobleskill as well as assistant baseball coach at Adirondack Community College. One of his most memorable experiences has been athletic training at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.  Dan has also worked with high level athletes at the Peak Performance Center in Saratoga along with providing athletic training services for Columbia High School. Dan taught Health and Physical Education as a NYS certified teacher at Ballston Spa High School and provided Athletic Training for all athletic sports programs.  Dan is an active member of the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association and was the Chairperson for the Secondary School Committee.  He is also an active member of the NJCAA Region III Athletic Trainer's committee. 

Mr. “D” has extensive experience in the field of Sports Medicine and Athletic Training having worked with outstanding athletic programs from high school to the Olympic level athletes. He has established a network of some of the finest athletic trainers and orthopedic physicians in the up and down the East Coast.  As a certified physical education teacher and athletic trainer he has also developed a Sports Medicine curriculum designed for teaching students the practical skills of athletic training at the secondary/collegiate school level.  Dan has guided over 200+ high school and college students to pursue the field of Sports Medicine in college over the past 20 years.
Dan lost his wife Anne in the Spring '13 due to a long battle with Breast Cancer.  He resides in Queensbury, NY with his 3 very active children Danielle (2nd yr. SUNY ADK), Johnathon (11th grade) and Devin (3rd grade).

Coach 'D" is a highly visible and accessible administrator, teacher and certified athletic trainer with excellent qualifications in community relations and a professional reputation for acting with high standards.  His background ranges from working with Olympic, collegiate and high school athletes since 1990 which has provided a unique background in the area of athletic training and education.  He is able to facilitate cooperation among physicians, coaches and student-athletes utilizing sound decision-making.  He is skilled in teaching athletic healthcare in a clinical setting through course offerings of Athletic Training (I & II) in addition to Health and physical education classes.   He utilizes his creativity in developing fitness programs and maximizing available resources to strengthen the overall athletic program.   He possesses a strong knowledge of coaching practices and current injury prevention techniques which are incorporated into the NYS Coaching Certification courses.   His primary goal is to prioritize all areas of the athletic program to focus on the success of the student-athlete while providing sound educational practices and the best possible athletic training healthcare.
